Defending champions MI Cape Town (MICT) are facing a steadily deteriorating situation in the SA20 League being played in South Africa. Forget about defending their title, MI don’t even seem to be able to reach the playoffs this season. The team’s performance has plummeted this season, exemplified by their loss against Paarl Royals, where the Rashid Khan-led team failed to complete the full 20 overs or even score 100 runs.
Another poor result for MI Capetown in SA20
Paarl Royals bundled them out for just 88 runs and then won the match without much trouble by 7 wickets. They lost three of their opening four matches, with one match ending in a draw. Fans were expecting a spectacular performance from the team on Sunday, January 4th, at home, but the team’s game ended in less than three hours, leading to a crushing defeat.

It all started with Cape Town’s batting, where the team got off to a good start, but once the wickets started falling, the situation only worsened. By 15.2 overs, the team was at 80 for 3. Then, on the third ball of the over, the fourth wicket fell, and within the next 18 balls, the entire team was all out.
That meant Mumbai lost six wickets in 19 balls and were all out in the 19th over. Most shockingly, the batsmen managed to add just eight runs during this period, and the team was bundled out for just 88. Zimbabwean spinner Sikandar Raza played a major role in MI’s predicament, taking four wickets for just 13 runs in four overs. This score alone seemed certain to secure victory for Paarl Royals, but all eyes were on how quickly they would reach it.

However, opener Luhan Drie Pretorius was dismissed on the third ball of the innings. However, MICT couldn’t capitalize, and Paarl secured victory, albeit at a slower pace. Captain David Miller’s six in the 13th over marked their third win in four matches this season.
