In Noida, this advanced system will operate on a 14.6-kilometer elevated track stretching from Jewar Airport to Film City, with an anticipated launch date set for 2028. Concurrently, in Mumbai, groundwork has commenced for a fully automated pod taxi initiative, which is expected to be unveiled shortly.
To alleviate traffic congestion in Mumbai, a driverless pod taxi system is on the horizon. The initial phase of this venture is expected to be finalized within the next 20 months. This initiative will establish a new personal rapid transit system in the city, reducing the necessity for individuals to depend on various transport modes. It will kick off with a 3.36-kilometer route, for which the groundbreaking ceremony has already taken place.
Pod taxi routes in Mumbai
The trajectory of this pod taxi service will extend from Kurla Terminal to Bandra East Terminal. Significant points along the route include LBS Marg, MMRDA Pay-and-Park (G Block), BDB Gate 11, Kalanagar, the former MMRDA building, and the Excise Department. Ultimately, this will evolve into a more extensive 8.85-kilometer network featuring 22 stations, enhancing connectivity to the BKC, Kurla, and Bandra East regions.

Pod taxis represent a cutting-edge, intelligent transportation solution where small, cabin-like vehicles (pods) function autonomously, without a driver. Pod taxi route in Noida
India’s first pod taxi service in Noida will run between Jewar Airport and Film City. This approximately 14.6-kilometer route will connect the industrial and commercial areas of the Yamuna Expressway. Approximately 12 stations will be built along this route, including Handicraft Park, Sector 29, MSME Park, and Toy Park.

The proposed pod taxi fares in Noida and Mumbai are expected to be quite affordable. In Noida, they could be around Rs 8 per kilometer, while in Mumbai, they could be around Rs 21 per kilometer.
