People are forced to huddle around bonfires to keep warm, causing distress to everyone. Dense fog covered many areas throughout Thursday, significantly worsening the situation. Since early Friday morning, dense fog has blanketed many areas, causing difficulties for residents.
Villages, towns, and cities in the Delhi-NCR region are shrouded in fog, leading to problems. The intensity of the cold wave is expected to increase further. Due to the activation of a Western Disturbance, rainfall is possible in various places over the next four days.
Know the weather in Punjab and Haryana.
According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures in Punjab and Haryana have dropped close tothe freezing point. This is expected to increase the intensity of the cold in both states. According to the IMD, Hisar was the coldest place in both states on Thursday. The minimum temperature there dropped to 0.2 degrees Celsius, six degrees below normal.
Additionally, visibility was significantly reduced in most parts of Haryana and Punjab due to dense fog in the morning. The minimum temperature in Narnaul, Haryana, was recorded at 1.5 degrees Celsius, and in Nuh, it was 4.6 degrees Celsius.

Nighttime temperatures rise in Kashmir.
According to the IMD, a slight increase in temperature is being observed in Kashmir. However, temperatures are still belowthe reezing point. According to meteorological officials, the minimum temperature in Srinagar on Wednesday night was recorded at 3.9 degrees Celsius below zero.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a heavy rainfall warning has been issued for several states across the country. The IMD has predicted rain for 72 hours in six states. Moderate to heavy rain and snowfall are expected in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh between January 16th and 20th.
Uttarakhand is also likely to experience rain and snowfall in several places. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh between January 18th and 20th, and in western Uttar Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan on January 19th and 20th. Lakshadweep may experience moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms. Caution is advised due to the possibility of lightning strikes.
