monsoon alert: The weather across most states of the country currently feels pleasantly cool. In June, people appear to be finding relief from the scorching heat. A significant drop in maximum temperatures has also been recorded in the Delhi-NCR region. In North India, the beginning of June is witnessing rainfall rather than the intense heat typically associated with this time of year. Several states have observed a decline in temperatures due to rainfall, cloud cover, and strong winds.
According to the Meteorological Department, a spell of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds is likely to continue in Delhi and its surrounding areas between June 2 and June 5. Consequently, residents of Delhi-NCR can expect some respite from the severe heat. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for this week, anticipating isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across Northeast India and the Southern Peninsular region.
The department forecasts that the Southwest Monsoon is likely to arrive in Kerala within the next 2–3 days. Intermittent thunderstorms and rainfall are also expected to persist across Northwest, Central, and adjoining East India. So, let’s find out which states are likely to receive rain today and what the weather forecast looks like for your city this week.
