Holi School Holiday 2026: Holi will be celebrated with great fanfare across the country on March 4, 2026. A total lunar eclipse will occur on Tuesday, March 3rd, the day before. Holika Dahan will be celebrated on Monday, March 2nd. However, there is still considerable confusion regarding the dates of Holi. Many states have now resolved this confusion regarding whether Holi will be celebrated on March 3rd or March 4th. So, let’s find out when Holi will be a holiday in your state.

This year, Holi will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026. A total lunar eclipse will occur on March 3rd, the day before. Holika Dahan will take place on March 2nd. The first lunar eclipse of the year will occur the day after Holika Dahan. Due to the lunar eclipse and the Sutak period on March 3rd, Holi will not be celebrated on that day. Therefore, in the year 2026, the Holi festival will be celebrated on March 4th.

Holi School Closed in UP

The Uttar Pradesh government has declared a three-day public holiday for Holi. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that all government offices and educational institutions will be closed from March 2nd to March 4th. The government has also directed that February salaries and pensions be disbursed before the festival.

Delhi School Closed

Exams are currently underway in most schools in Delhi. However, there will be no exams on Holi. The Central Board of Secondary Education has also decided not to conduct any board exams on March 4th.

Bihar School Closed

According to the official academic calendar of the Bihar Education Department, schools in Bihar will be closed on March 3rd and 4th. Holi will be a holiday in the state on March 3rd and 4th. The festival of Holi will be celebrated over the two days according to different traditions. Students and parents are advised to check with their respective schools for official confirmation.
