: Good news for railway passengers. The central government has provided a significant gift to devotees visiting Haridwar to take a holy dip in the Ganga on , which occurs on June 14th and 15th this year. The request for a special train service between Jammu and Haridwar has been approved. This special train will depart from Jammu to Haridwar on June 14th and return from Haridwar to Jammu on June 15th. Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, made this announcement on Tuesday.

Prem Nath Dogra, a BJP leader in Jammu and Kashmir and the person in charge of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, mentioned that a request had been submitted to operate a special train between Jammu and Haridwar for the convenience of the pilgrims. This train will cater to those who wish to travel to Haridwar for Somvati Amavasya to bathe in the Ganges and carry out religious ceremonies.

Dr. Jitendra Singh expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for the approval of the special train. He shared this positive news on the social media platform X, stating that it is great news for the residents of Jammu, Hiranagar, and Kathua. He further noted that under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance, no significant request from the region has been overlooked in the past 12 years.

Wrote a letter to the Railway Minister

Earlier, Dr. Jitendra Singh had written to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav requesting the running of special trains. In the letter, he quoted Prem Nath Dogra as saying that special trains were requested from Jammu to Haridwar on June 14th and from Haridwar to Jammu on June 15th so that local devotees could travel to Haridwar on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya.

It’s worth noting that Indian Railways often runs special trains during festivals and pilgrimages to facilitate pilgrims. This not only provides additional convenience to passengers but also helps the administration manage crowds. Recently, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini flagged off a special train from Kurukshetra to Somnath in Gujarat. Over 1,100 pilgrims boarded the train.
