Bihar Hospital Fire: The embers of the fire at a hotel in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar had barely cooled when a heart-wrenching incident emerged from a hospital in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. A massive fire broke out early Thursday morning in the ICU ward of a hospital located here. Ten patients lost their lives in this horrific tragedy, while several others sustained severe injuries.

The death toll is feared to rise further. The condition of the patients rescued from the scene is reported to be critical. The fire originated on the fifth floor of the hospital, but within moments, smoke engulfed the entire building, making it nearly impossible to breathe. According to local administration officials, more than 20 patients have been injured, several of whom are reported to be in critical condition.

Relief and Rescue Operations Underway

As soon as news of the fire at the hospital was received, police and fire brigade teams rushed to the scene immediately. Firefighters worked tirelessly to initiate relief and rescue operations. The flames were so intense that the rescue personnel faced immense difficulty and exhaustion while attempting to save lives. Firefighters had to break through windows and doors to extract patients trapped in the ICU and other wards of the hospital.

Fire Department Provides Details

Providing details regarding the massive blaze, Fire Officer R.N. Pandey stated, “We received information about the fire at the hospital around 3:00 AM. When our team arrived at the scene, the situation was extremely dire.”

“The entire ICU ward was filled with thick, black smoke.” The official further added that, fortunately, more than 20 patients have been safely rescued; however, reports confirm that 10 people have lost their lives.
