According to the department, the monsoon is expected to make its entry into Kerala and Tamil Nadu at any moment today. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert about the likelihood of rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in several states over the next 24 hours, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.

While some states are currently experiencing the brunt of severe heat, others are witnessing a continuous spell of rainfall. There is a very high probability of heatwaves occurring in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, as well as in certain districts of Western Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a very high probability of heatwaves occurring in certain parts of Bihar between June 5 and June 9. Additionally, severe heat conditions may prevail in Eastern Uttar Pradesh from June 7 to June 9 and in Western Uttar Pradesh from June 8 to June 9. The department forecasts that hot weather and intense heatwaves may affect Odisha between June 4 and June 7, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on June 4.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a strong likelihood that the Southwest Monsoon will arrive in Kerala within the next 12 hours. Triggered by the onset of the monsoon, heavy rainfall is expected in several parts of Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep over the next 6 to 7 days; forecasts also indicate that heavy rain may occur in isolated locations across Tamil Nadu.

Possibility of Rain Accompanied by Strong Winds:

The Meteorological Department forecasts light to moderate rainfall across most parts of Northeast India over the next 7 days, including districts in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. These states may experience spells of heavy rainfall on specific days. Additionally, there is a possibility of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, and Gujarat.

Delhi-NCR Weather
Delhi may experience some relief from the scorching heat today. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to range between 38°C and 40°C today. The sky will remain partly cloudy, and there is a possibility of dust storms accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms during the evening or night.


Bihar is currently grappling with the severity of humid heat. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a likelihood that severe heatwaves will sweep across several districts of Bihar by the end of this week.

According to the Meteorological Department, ‘Orange’ and ‘Yellow’ alerts for rain have been issued for both Punjab and Haryana today. Similar weather conditions are expected to persist until June 6.
