The Ministry of Road Transport has made major amendments to the rules related to toll tax payment, which will come into effect from November 15th. The Government Made a Major Change

The government revised the National Highway Fees in 2008. Now, if a driver enters a toll plaza without a FASTag, or their FASTag fails to scan, they will be charged double the normal toll fee. Previously, this rule applied uniformly to everyone, but now the fee will vary depending on the method of payment.

These people will get relief

According to the new system, if the FASTag fails and the driver pays by cash, they will be charged double the toll. But if the same person pays using UPI or any other digital medium, they will only have to pay 1.25 times the toll.

For example, if the normal toll is ₹100, paying with a FASTag will only result in ₹100. If the FASTag fails, paying in cash will result in ₹200, while paying with UPI will only result in ₹125. This rule will promote digital payments and reduce the burden on cash users.

Relief from long queues

The government believes that digital payments will significantly reduce long queues at toll plazas. This will speed up vehicular movement and make the toll system more transparent. Reducing cash transactions will reduce human errors and strengthen the Digital India mission. This change is an important step towards making the highway experience faster, smoother, and modern.
