Taj Mahal: Good news for everyone. If you’re thinking about checking out the Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, I’ve got some great news for you! To celebrate the three-day annual Urs of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has decided to let people visit the Taj Mahal for free. This means you can explore one of the Seven Wonders of the World without needing a ticket during specific hours on January 15th, 16th, and 17th. The ASI has put out an official notice about this.
When can you visit the Taj Mahal for free?
According to the ASI’s announcement, the free viewing times for the Taj Mahal are different on January 15th, 16th, and 17th. On Thursday, January 15th, entry will be free from 2:00 PM until sunset. Then, on Friday, January 16th, you can also visit for free from 2:00 PM until sunset. And on Saturday, January 17th, you can enjoy free entry all day long, from sunrise to sunset.

Taj Mahal ticket counters will be closed
The ASI has shared that all ticket counters at the Taj Mahal will be completely shut down during the free entry hours for the Urs. This means tourists won’t have to buy tickets online or offline. You can head straight into the Taj during the designated times. Given the expected influx of visitors, the ASI and local police have set up extensive security and law enforcement measures.
Tourism is set to get a boost
Every year, a huge number of pilgrims and tourists from both India and abroad flock to Agra for Shah Jahan’s Urs. Traditional rituals take place within the Taj Mahal complex, and a colorful sheet is draped over the main mausoleum. Offering free entry during this period will not only ease the burden on tourists but also help local businesses like hotels, guides, transport, and other tourism-related services.
