PMAY-U 2.0: The central government provides housing to both rural and urban poor. For this purpose, the government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Who will benefit from the PMAY-U 2.0 scheme?
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is for families who do not own a permanent house. It benefits economically weaker sections (EWS), low-income groups (LIG), and middle-income groups (MIG) in urban areas. Beneficiaries can build or buy a house according to their needs. They can also choose the option of renting a house. Certain income limits have been set for this.
The annual income for EWS should be ₹3 lakh or less. The annual income for LIG should be between ₹3 lakh and ₹6 lakh. The annual income for MIG should be between ₹6 lakh and ₹9 lakh.

Ineligible individuals will not receive the benefits of the scheme. Geo-tagging is also being used to monitor transparency. This includes recording photos, videos, and location details related to the construction.
Who runs the scheme?
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) is implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. This scheme will fulfil the dream of homeownership for the urban poor.
