Rajasthan DA Hike: Major news for state government employees. Following the central government, Rajasthan has also begun the process of increasing dearness allowance (DA) by three percent for employees and officers as a Diwali gift, and dearness relief (DR) for pensioners. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for bonuses.

The central government has decided to provide DA-DR starting October 1, 2025. This will increase the DA-DR to 58 percent. According to sources, the proposal to increase DA-DR has reached the Deputy Chief Minister (Finance) office. As per current practice, the increased DA amount for July, August, and September in Rajasthan is expected to be deposited into the GPF or equivalent account. Going forward, the increased DA will be paid along with salary, while the increased DR amount will be calculated as of July 1st and paid in cash.

Therefore, it is estimated that the increase in DA-DR will impose an additional burden of approximately Rs 1,200 crore on the state. The Finance Department will also soon forward a proposal to provide bonuses to employees on Diwali. The bonus is expected to impose an additional financial burden of approximately Rs 500 crore on the state.

Currently, Rajasthan provides the same DA as the central government. Currently, the central and state governments provide 55 percent DA. On October 1st, the central government increased DA by three percent. Consequently, a three percent DA increase is likely in Rajasthan as well. Thus, state employees in Rajasthan will receive 58 percent DA.

DA increased the least last time

If we look at the DA over the past two and a half years, the last one saw the lowest DA increase. In 2023, the DA was increased by four percent each in January and July. In 2024, the DA was increased by four percent in January and three percent in July. However, the DA for January 2025 was only increased by two percent. This year, the DA is expected to increase by three percent, following the central government’s approach. Therefore, it can be said that January 2025 saw the lowest DA increase so far.
