The multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment in the Indian automobile market is no longer limited to commercial vehicles or taxis. Whether it’s the Maruti Ertiga or the Toyota Innova, the bumper sales of these vehicles are proof that Indian buyers are increasingly preferring MPVs as personal vehicles for large families.
But if you’re looking for something truly luxurious, spacious, and equipped with high-tech features, beyond basic and traditional models like the Ertiga or Innova Crysta, there’s no better option than the Kia Carnival. After making a global splash, South Korean car manufacturer Kia Motors is now preparing to launch the hybrid version of its luxury vehicle, the Kia Carnival HEV, in India.
Exterior and Look

When Kia Motors introduced the fourth-generation Carnival in the Indian market, it made several major cosmetic changes to its appearance. The exterior of the upcoming hybrid model will retain the same bold and muscular design theme, with the exception of the addition of ‘HEV’ badges at some locations for identification.
The front of the car features the company’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’-inspired wide front grille and vertical LED headlights based on Kia’s global design language. Connected LED taillights extending from one end to the other at the rear add to its modern look.
The long wheelbase enhances its overall length and commanding road presence. The sporty 19-inch gloss black alloy wheels complement its premium look.
Luxurious Cabin and Features
The true magic of the Kia Carnival Hybrid lies in its cabin. Its spacious interior is designed like a luxury lounge or private jet, with no compromises on comfort. The dashboard features dual 12.3-inch curved displays, one serving as a touchscreen infotainment system and the other as a digital driver’s console. A Bose premium music system provides excellent sound throughout the cabin.
For middle-row passengers, ventilated and powered captain seats come with leg rests (ottomans) for comfortable stretching on long journeys. For enhanced entertainment, customers can also opt for a 14.6-inch rear-seat entertainment screen package.
Additionally, luxurious features like a dual panoramic sunroof, powered sliding doors, a head-up display (HUD), and ambient lighting make the journey a delight. In terms of safety, it comes standard with Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), a 360-degree camera for easy parking in tight spaces, and eight airbags for all-around passenger safety inside the cabin, ensuring impenetrable safety.
Powertrain and Engine
The biggest and most revolutionary change in this car lies beneath its hood. In line with global markets, Kia Motors will offer this luxury MPV with its state-of-the-art 1.6-liter Smart stream turbo-petrol engine, paired with a powerful hybrid setup. This hybrid powertrain collectively produces a whopping 242 bhp and a massive 367 Nm of torque. It’s paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox to transmit all this power to the wheels.
The biggest advantage of this hybrid technology will be that, despite being such a large vehicle, it will deliver significant fuel savings (excellent mileage) and operate like a very quiet electric vehicle in city traffic. In addition to the hybrid, the company may also continue to sell the existing 2.2-liter diesel engine (193 bhp and 441 Nm) so that customers have ample choice.
Launch Timeline and Pricing
Kia Motors has officially confirmed the expansion of hybrid vehicles in India as part of its global strategy. Under this plan, the Kia Carnival Hybrid is expected to be launched in the Indian market sometime in the near future (potentially by the end of 2026 or early 2027). As for pricing, the ex-showroom price of the current diesel model starts at around ₹59.42 lakh, which goes up to approximately ₹75 lakh on-road.
The addition of this cutting-edge, strong hybrid technology could see a price increase of approximately ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2 lakh. This means its expected on-road price is expected to be between ₹77 lakh and ₹80 lakh. Upon launch, this premium passenger vehicle will directly compete with the highly expensive and ultra-luxurious Toyota Vellfire and will be a great option for customers seeking a more luxurious and spacious vehicle than the Innova.
