The Gujarat Titans had a kind of nightmare night, in their big cricket match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) . Like, everything sort of went sideways for Gujarat’s young captain Shubman Gill and his whole plan, well completely backfired. In the end, his team lost by a massive 92 runs, and it didn’t even feel close.
After that heavy loss, RCB celebrated a little and went straight into the grand final while Gujarat missed their first real chance, like right there.
The Wrong Player Choice That Backfired
Before the game even started, Shubman Gill and the team managers made this big gamble. They dropped a talented player, Arshad Khan, and instead picked a surprise bowler, Kulwant Khejroliya.
And honestly, that call turned into a full disaster. The RCB batsmen absolutely loved hitting Kulwant’s bowling. RCB’s captain Rajat Patidar went into beast mode, smashed Kulwant for 28 runs in one single over, yeah just one over. That mistake cost a lot, and helped RCB pile up a huge total of 254 runs, which is apparently the highest score ever in a big playoff match.
Sloppy Fielding Gives Away Free Lives
After the game, Shubman Gill admitted his side played very badly, especially when it came to catching the ball. They looked nervous ,and under pressure they basically lost their focus, like completely.
Gujarat’s fielders let RCB’s dangerous captain Rajat Patidar slip twice in a row, when he had barely started, and that’s the part that really hurts.
Going, going, GONE! 🚀

First, Kulwant dropped a catch off him.
Then just a couple of balls later , their star bowler Kagiso Rabada dropped him again.
Give a good batsman two easy chances and it’s basically like handing them a superpower. Patidar punished Gujarat hard, smashed 9 massive sixes, and finished unbeaten on 93 runs off just 33 balls.
Bad Luck, and then this full on batting collapse
So when it was Gujarat’s time to bat and go for that huge target, it honestly got worse… like, pretty fast, and yeah a bit odd too. Their main man, Sai Sudharsan, looked fine for a while, until that rough bit of terrible luck showed up. He tried to play a shot and his bat just slipped from his grip, then it went flying backward and landed, straight into his own stumps. He got out in a way that was almost laughable, but also kind of heartbreaking, you know.
Not long after that, Captain Shubman Gill walked back with only 2 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled it with real control, and it had that “clean strike” feel. Once both openers were gone, the rest of the Gujarat batting group sort of collapsed, like cards falling, no balance at all. During the early overs they lost 5 wickets in quick time, and the score slid to a tense 51 for 5.
Rahul Tewatia then tried to dig them out on his own, fighting like a lone soldier, and he made 68 runs. Still, the amount of runs they needed was too much. Gujarat ended up all out for 162. Now they have to pack up and head to Mohali for that last wildcard match, if they want to keep their season alive and make it to the final!
