Pension Life Certificate: Big news for pensioners. During a review meeting held by the Social Welfare Department in Patna, Minister Dr. Shweta Gupta announced that around 9.125 million recipients of social security pensions have already submitted their life certificates. She urged the remaining pensioners to finalize this process by May 30th.
The minister mentioned that pensioners can receive free life certification either at panchayat-level camps or by visiting the nearest Common Service Center (CSC). Not completing this could result in issues with receiving their pension. He instructed officials to guarantee a transparent and timely distribution of benefits to all eligible individuals. Additionally, he emphasized the need for ongoing monitoring and promotion of the schemes. The meeting also assessed financial assistance programs for the elderly, disabled individuals, widows, leprosy patients, and beggars.
The Minister instructed officials to enhance coordination at both the district and panchayat levels to ensure that no eligible individual is overlooked in the process. Efforts have been made to spread awareness about the schemes and their deadlines to every village. The Minister emphasized that pension benefits must be delivered directly to those in need in a clear and efficient way.
Who stands to gain from these schemes?
In the review meeting, the Minister made it clear that the government’s focus is on providing economic stability to the most vulnerable members of society. The primary recipients of these schemes include:
– Elderly and disabled individuals
– Widowed women
– Persons affected by leprosy
– Individuals in need who are engaged in begging
Finally, the Minister urged officials to keep a close watch on the social security schemes to prevent any technical issues that could disrupt the regular financial support given to impoverished families.
Meanwhile For the past few days, a letter claiming a significant increase in the minimum pension under the EPS-95 scheme has been circulating rapidly on social media. This letter created an atmosphere of jubilation and confusion among pensioners. However, the EPFO has now come forward and revealed the truth about this entire matter and issued a major alert. The EPFO has clarified that the letter circulating regarding the increase in the minimum EPS pension is completely fake and fabricated.
The letter circulating on social media appears to be a genuine government document. The letter bears the name of the Ministry of Labor and Employment, Government of India, and lists its address as Shram Shakti Bhawan, Rafi Marg, New Delhi. The subject line of the letter states, “Notification Regarding Increase in Minimum Pension under the EPS-95 Scheme.” The fake letter falsely claims that the minimum pension amount has been increased following Central Government approval for pensioners already utilizing the benefits provided by the EPS-95 Scheme, 1995. According to the letter, the revised minimum monthly pension is being increased to ₹7,500 per month, effective immediately from April 30, 2026. Furthermore, the fake letter also states that the distribution of the revised increased pension amount will begin to all eligible pensioners from May 1, 2026.
