Summary of the match

Speaking about the Raipur ODI match, India and South Africa played a high-scoring match in Raipur on Wednesday. A total of 720 runs were scored and 11 wickets fell. India, invited to bat first, scored 358 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. South Africa achieved the target in 49.2 overs for the loss of 6 wickets

With this, South Africa leveled the three-match series 1-1. It’s worth noting that India won the first ODI in Ranchi by 17 runs. The third and final match of the series between the two teams will be played in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. This is only the second time India has lost a match after being set a target of more than 350 runs. Their previous defeat came against Australia in 2019.

Virat Kohli (102) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (105) added 195 runs for the third wicket. Team India had 257 runs on the scoreboard with 86 balls remaining. From there, India had a comfortable chance to score 370-380. However, due to the slow batting of Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja, India fell 20-30 runs short.

The Indian bowlers were ineffective in the match. Only Arshdeep Singh and Ravindra Jadeja conceded runs at an economy rate of less than 6. However, Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, and Kuldeep Yadav all had economy rates of more than 7. Krishna proved to be the most expensive bowler, conceding runs at an economy rate of more than 10. India needs to work hard on its fielding as well as its bowling.
