The ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT 2025), the biggest T20 tournament in Indian domestic cricket, is currently undergoing group stage matches. The Super League stage will begin on December 12th, with the final scheduled for December 18th.
Change in venues for important matches of SMAT 2025
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to relocate the venues for the Super League stage and final, largely due to logistical reasons.
When the BCCI released the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 schedule, it was decided to hold the group stage matches in Lucknow, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad, while the Super League stage and final were to be held at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The BCCI has now decided to hold the Super League stage and final in Pune instead of Indore.

According to news report, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said in a statement regarding the venue change, “It is true that we have decided to shift the Super League and final from Indore to Pune. This move was made following a request from the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, which cited a shortage of hotel rooms as a major reason for this change. Additionally, a doctors’ event is scheduled to be held there from December 13th to 16th.”
The matches will be played in these two stadiums in Pune
In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, after the group stage matches are over, the top two teams from each group in the points table will advance to the Super League stage, where matches will be played from December 12th. The final match will be held on December 18th. All these matches will be played at the Gahunje Stadium and Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Pune. This time, many star players of Team India are also seen playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, including Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami.
