Mind blowing batting, Prithvi Shaw scores double-century in Ranji Trophy in 141 balls

Prithvi Shaw, who is out of the Indian Test team, is in great form in the Ranji Trophy, scoring a double century in the second innings of the Elite Group B match against Chandigarh. Playing for Maharashtra, Shaw reached the double century in just 141 balls. This is the second-fastest double century in the Elite Group history of the Ranji Trophy. With this, Prithvi broke Rahul Singh’s record, which he set in 2023-24.

Rahul had scored a double century in the Ranji Trophy off 143 balls, but Prithvi has now surpassed him. Ahead of Prithvi is Ravi Shastri, who achieved this feat off 123 balls in the 1984-85 season. Shaw left Mumbai for Maharashtra before the current Ranji Trophy season, and this is only his second match for Maharashtra. Previously, Prithvi had reached his century off 72 balls, the sixth-fastest century in the Ranji Trophy. Prithvi has been out of the Indian team for a long time, and this strong performance in domestic cricket will have boosted his morale. This is the third-fastest double century by an Indian in first-class cricket. He trails Shastri and Tanmay Agarwal in this regard. Tanmay scored a double century off 119 balls against Arunachal Pradesh in 2024. Shastri, on the other hand, achieved the same feat against Baroda in 1985 off 123 balls.

In the second round match of Ranji Trophy against Chandigarh, Maharashtra declared the second innings and set a target of 464 runs for Chandigarh. In the second innings for Maharashtra, Prithvi scored an unbeaten 222 runs in 156 balls with the help of 29 fours and five sixes, due to which Maharashtra scored 359 runs for three wickets in the second innings and took a lead of 463 runs. Maharashtra decided to declare the innings. Apart from Prithvi, Siddhesh Veer scored 62, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 36 and Arsheen Kulkarni scored 31 runs for the team.

Earlier, Maharashtra scored 313 runs in the first innings and took a 104-run lead after dismissing Chandigarh for 209. Maharashtra put on a strong performance in the second innings and managed to consolidate their lead.
