During the first Test between India and South Africa, Shubman Gill was unable to bat due to neck pain and was hospitalized. Gill was discharged after treatment. However, his participation in the second Test remained uncertain. The BCCI has now provided a new update on Gill’s condition. The BCCI shared a post on social media detailing his injury.
BCCI provides official update of Shubman Gill’s injury
The BCCI wrote in its post, ” Indian team captain Shubman Gill suffered a neck injury on the second day of the Kolkata Test against South Africa and was taken to the hospital for evaluation after the end of the day’s play. He was kept under observation and discharged the next day. Shubman is responding well to the treatment provided and will travel with the team to Guwahati on November 19, 2025. The BCCI medical team will continue to monitor him and a decision on his participation in the second Test will be taken accordingly.”

Shubman Gill was unable to bat in India’s second innings due to a neck injury. India lost the Kolkata Test by 30 runs. Kolkata set a target of 124 runs, but the Indian team was bowled out for 93 in the second innings. The second and final Test of the series between India and South Africa will be played in Guwahati on November 22nd.
