Monsoon Update: The weather across the country is rapidly changing. Cold waves are intensifying in many states, and the Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave warning for the next two days in several states, including eastern Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and the Andaman Islands.

According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain is expected in many areas of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Mahe between November 16th and 18th. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema are also likely to experience rain on November 17th and 18th. Showers accompanied by strong winds are expected in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands between November 16th and 19th.

The cold is set to intensify in the capital, Delhi. However, polluted air, especially in winter, is making breathing difficult. The air quality index has exceeded 410 in many areas of Delhi. Meanwhile, as temperatures drop, the AQI is likely to rise further.

Cold wave to prevail in these states

The Meteorological Department has predicted a cold wave in parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on November 15th. A cold wave is also likely on November 16th. A cold wave may persist in Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and eastern Rajasthan from November 15th to 16th. Light to dense fog may persist in Northeast India and Uttar Pradesh for the next five days.

Cold will increase in Bihar
In the next 48 hours, cold will increase in several districts, including Patna, Gaya, Rohtas, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Buxar, Aurangabad, Arwal, Jehanabad, and Nalanda. Northwesterly winds are expected to reach up to 30 km/h, causing night temperatures to drop by 1–2°C, to 8–9°C in some areas.

Temperatures Drop in These States

According to the IMD, minimum temperatures may drop below 6°C in some areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, as well as in many parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Temperatures of 7–10°C are being recorded in some areas of Punjab. Temperatures of 7–10°C have also been recorded in northern Haryana, eastern Rajasthan, central Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh.

Rain Warning in These States

The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in some states of South India. Rain alerts have been issued in several areas of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Mahe from November 16 to 18. Rain warnings have also been issued for coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema on November 17 and 18. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in some areas of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on November 18 and 19.
