– June 5: The monsoon has officially made its entry into India through Kerala. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding thunderstorms, rainfall, and strong winds across most states of the country for the coming days.

A warning has been issued for isolated instances of heavy rainfall in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka over the next seven days. According to the Meteorological Department, an alert has been issued for June 5, anticipating heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across 19 states, including UP, Bihar, and Delhi.

In its latest bulletin, the department confirmed that the Southwest Monsoon arrived in Kerala today, June 4, 2026. Consequently, over the next 7 days, heavy rainfall (7–20 cm) is likely at isolated places in Kerala and Karnataka, while Tamil Nadu may witness intense rainfall in certain areas.

Warnings regarding rainfall have been issued for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura for the period between June 5 and June 7. The department has further stated that heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh from June 5 to June 10, and in Assam and Meghalaya on June 5 and June 10.

Rain and Thunderstorm Warnings for 19 States
According to the Meteorological Department, warnings for heavy rainfall, storms, and thunderstorms have been issued for 19 states across the country for June 5. These include states such as UP, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Assam. During this period, gusts of wind reaching speeds of up to 80 kilometres per hour are expected. There is also a possibility of hailstorms in several districts across the eastern states.

According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, an alert has been issued for heavy rain and thunderstorms in Delhi on June 5. During this time, wind speeds are expected to range between 40 and 50 kilometres per hour. On June 5, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to be 29 degrees Celsius.

An alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms has been issued for Uttar Pradesh (UP) for June 5. Warnings regarding heavy rainfall and storms have been issued for several districts across UP, including Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Agra, Mathura, Lucknow, Kanpur, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Firozabad, and Auraiya.

Rain Expected in Bihar
A warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms has been issued for Bihar for June 5 and 6. Alerts regarding heavy rainfall and storms have been issued for Patna, Gaya, Buxar, Siwan, Bhojpur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnia, Kishanganj, Bhagalpur, and Munger. An alert for rain and storms over the next two days has been issued for Himachal Pradesh. Warnings regarding heavy rainfall and thunderstorms have been issued for Mandi, Kullu, Shimla, Solan, Bilaspur, Chamba, and Kangra.
