PENSION UPDATE: Good news for pensioners. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has issued a very important and comforting news for millions of pensioners covered under the Employees’ Pension Scheme-1995 (EPS-95). If you are unable to submit your Life Certificate due to physical illness, old age, or any other technical reason, you no longer need to worry. The EPFO has launched a special ‘doorstep service’ in collaboration with the Postal Department.
Now a postman will come to your home with just one phone call
According to official information released by EPFO, pensioners who are unable to visit a bank or EPFO office can simply call the phone number 033-22029000. After making the call, a postal department employee (postman) will arrive directly at the pensioner’s home. This postman will successfully submit your digital life certificate through a biometric machine at your home. The most comforting thing is that no fee will be charged to the pensioner for this entire process; this service is completely free.
The EPFO has made it clear that pensioners can now submit their Digital Life Certificate (DLC) from the comfort of their homes using their smartphones. They have the option to submit their DLC through the ‘UMANG’ app or the ‘Aadhaar Face RD’ app by utilizing face authentication. Additionally, they can update their certificate by visiting the nearest Common Service Center (CSC) or a bank branch.
Rules and Pension Amount
As per the regulations, every EPS-95 pensioner must update their life certificate within exactly 12 months from the date of their last submission. If they fail to do this, their pension may be suspended. Currently, the minimum pension for eligible pensioners, widows, and nominees stands at Rs 1,000 per month. For children, the minimum pension is Rs 250, while orphans receive Rs 750 per month. This new system aims to relieve the elderly from the burden of frequent office visits.
