Monsoon Alert: The northern regions of the country are currently reeling under a severe cold wave and dense fog. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for moderate to heavy rainfall in three states. Despite the monsoon’s departure, rain continues in many states. Amidst the severe cold in January, a warning has been issued for heavy rainfall in some states. The rain may make people feel colder. The Meteorological Department predicts rain in many areas on January 4th, 5th, and 6th. According to the India Meteorological Department, light to moderate rainfall is expected in some areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad in the coming days. These states may also experience snowfall along with rain.
Rain Warning in Three States
According to the Meteorological Department, an alert has been issued for light to moderate rainfall in the southern states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands over the next 48 hours. Fishermen have been advised to be cautious during this period. Due to the rain, temperatures in these states will drop by 2 to 3 degrees.

Cold Wave Warning in North India
The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave warning for 21 cities in North India on January 7th. The cities affected by the cold wave include Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Kanpur, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Bijnor, Agra, Tundla, and Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The cold wave is also expected to cause difficulties in Delhi in the morning. Dense fog and cold wave warnings have also been issued for Gurugram, Sonipat, and Panipat in Haryana.
Weather Conditions in Delhi
According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Delhi may drop to 5 degrees Celsius on January 7th. People need to be vigilant during the morning hours. Extreme caution is required in the Akshardham area and on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway.

According to the India Meteorological Department, dense fog is likely to prevail at night and in the morning in some areas of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh until January 7th. Thick fog is also expected to prevail in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha until January 8th. Dense fog is also likely to succeed at night and in the morning in some areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand until January 9th. Dense fog will prevail in Punjab, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Chandigarh until January 11th.

Weather Conditions in Bihar and Jharkhand
According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures are expected to drop to 5 degrees in Patna, Gaya, and Buxar. Cold winds may blow across Seemanchal areas such as Purnia and Araria. Furthermore, temperatures may drop below 5 degrees in Ranchi and Jamshedpur. A yellow cold wave alert has been issued for Palamu and Latehar.

Kolkata’s maximum temperature is 210°C and minimum is 12°C.
