According to the latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds are likely across Northwest, Central, and East India on May 31st. Additionally, there is a possibility of hailstorms in certain locations. So, let’s take a look at what the weather holds for the rest of the country this Sunday.

Heavy Rainfall Alert in These States

According to IMD’s latest bulletin, rain alerts have been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Bihar, Mizoram, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat.

Delhi Today
The weather in Delhi has shown a noticeable shift over the last three days. A decline in temperature has been recorded across the city. The Meteorological Department has also issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for today—Sunday. The department forecasts light rainfall and strong winds, which are expected to provide substantial relief to the public from the heat.

Storm and Rain Warning for UP
According to the Meteorological Department, the spell of rain and thunderstorms is expected to continue across both the western and eastern regions of the state for the next three days. In several districts of UP, rain, strong winds, and lightning are likely to occur in various areas on May 31st. Furthermore, a warning regarding potential hailstorms has also been issued for specific locations.

Rain Expected in Bihar
Weather conditions may remain adverse in several districts of Bihar on Sunday, May 31st. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for light to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in various areas, including Patna, Rajgir, Siwan, and Bhagalpur. Additionally, there is a possibility of hailstorms in certain regions.


A Yellow Alert has been issued for the entire state of Jharkhand. According to meteorologists, there is a possibility of rain and lightning strikes on Sunday, accompanied by strong winds. Additionally, light rainfall may occur in most parts of the state on June 1st and 2nd.


In certain parts of Rajasthan, strong winds gusting at speeds of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour are anticipated. Furthermore, heavy rainfall, hailstorms, and lightning strikes are forecast for several locations. Consequently, the people of Rajasthan are expected to find relief from the scorching heat and heatwaves.


An alert regarding rain and hailstorms has been issued for Uttarakhand. According to the Meteorological Department, a rain alert has been issued for today across several districts—including Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, and Chamoli. During this period, hailstorms may also occur in some areas. Strong winds are also expected to blow across several districts of Uttarakhand.

Punjab Weather
An alert has been issued for Punjab covering the period from May 31st to June 1st. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for moderate to heavy rainfall in certain regions. An alert regarding hailstorms has also been issued for several areas.
