Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi Watch S5 46mm in India along with the Xiaomi 17T series and the key focus on this Premium Smartwatch is its battery, design and display. Xiaomi is touting the new smartwatch as a flagship that doesn’t cost a flagship price, with the Watch S5 featuring a polished stainless steel body, HyperOS and better health tracking capabilities. This could very well be one of the most compelling Xiaomi smartwatches released in recent times.
Premium Stainless Steel Design
Xiaomi Watch S5 features a 46mm stainless steel case that looks more premium than previous Xiaomi wearables and has a slimmer bezel that makes the screen more immersive. The smartwatch still packs a large 815mAh battery under the hood but doesn’t feel bulky with just 10.99mm of thickness and even weight distribution that should make it comfortable for both exercise and daily wear.
AMOLED Display
The smartwatch has a 1.48 inch AMOLED screen with a 480 480 resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate that displays great visuals, but the huge improvement in brightness will let you view the display even in direct sunlight. Xiaomi claims it has boosted the display’s peak brightness by over two and a half times to an impressive 2500 nits and has also reduced the bezel size to just 2.6mm which further enhances the design of the watch.
21-Day Battery Life
This is the selling point of the Xiaomi Watch S5, the battery life is phenomenal for a premium smartwatch. The smartwatch comes equipped with an 815mAh battery that Xiaomi claims will last up to 21 days in light usage mode. Under normal usage it will last 14 days, and it still gives you 9 days in Always-On Display mode which is impressive.
HyperOS 3 Improves Smart Ecosystem Features
The Xiaomi Watch S5 runs HyperOS 3 which integrates well with the latest Xiaomi smartphones and devices and you’ll be able to control other devices, sync your watch data between your other devices, use it as a remote for your camera and have seamless smartphone integration. Xiaomi has also integrated the Xiaomi Smart Hub function to this smartwatch and you will be able to remotely control other smart home devices in your home via the watch. The new HyperOS will provide faster animations and responsiveness compared to older smartwatch operating systems from Xiaomi.
Fitness and Health Tracking
The Watch S5 boasts a significant boost in fitness and health tracking accuracy. It has upgraded the GPS system with dual-band five-system GNSS support for extremely accurate workout tracking and the watch now features a new 4 LED 4 PD optical heart rate sensor thatXiaomi claims has 98.4% heart-rate tracking accuracy. The watch also has blood oxygen monitoring, stress monitoring, sleep tracking, and over 150 sports modes.
Xiaomi Watch S5 Price and Availability
The Xiaomi Watch S5 will be available in various strap colours and finishes starting at around €179.99 globally. Indian pricing is expected to range between 16,000 to 22,500 for different strap variants with some variants possibly even having the premium ceramic or forged carbon design.
