School Holiday 2026 Update – UP Schools to Reopen on March 7, Complete List for Delhi & Rajasthan

School Holiday 2026: Holi was celebrated with great enthusiasm, and the excitement is still palpable. People are currently busy greeting each other with Holi greetings. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has also ordered the extension of holidays in view of the festival.

Government and private schools will now be closed until March 6th. The Uttar Pradesh government had previously declared a holiday until March 4th. The Education Department issued this notification in accordance with the state government’s instructions. However, board exams will continue to be conducted, which will not be closed.

Why the Decision Was Taken

The state government explained that Holi is not a one-day festival, but is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour in Uttar Pradesh. The days leading up to Holi are particularly crowded, with people travelling to distant places. Therefore, to ensure the safety of students and staff, the state government has taken this surprising decision.

At the same time, for the information of all students and parents, no changes are being made to the state board examinations. Board examinations will continue as usual.

When will the UP Board exams be completed?

For information, the UP Board 1st and 12th board examinations can be conducted until March 12th. More than 5.2 million students are participating in the board examinations. 5,230,297 students have registered for the UP Board High School and Intermediate board examinations.

2,750,945 students are registered in the 10th grade, of which 1,438,683 are boys and 1,312,263 are girls. 2,479,352 students have registered in the 12th grade, of which 1,303,012 are boys and 1,176,340 are girls.

Will schools reopen in Delhi?

Schools in Delhi were declared holidays on March 3 and 4 for Holi. Classes will then resume on March 5, i.e. today. For more information, contact your school principal or teacher.

The Rajasthan government declared a holiday on March 2, 3, and 4 for Holi. Holi was celebrated with great pomp in some parts of the state on March 3 and in others on March 4, 2026. Schools in Rajasthan are reopening today, i.e. March 5.
