The Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) has launched an internship programme for Women Empowerment in India. The WCD Internship Programme aims to empower women, especially those from small-town and rural communities across India. The internship promotes the development of skills trained for the needs of women. The new insight for women in this programme will begin in February and end in March of the same year.

A monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000 plus the availability to utilise Temporary Housing will be provided to the selected candidates for the duration of the internship.

What Does the WCD Internship Programme Include?

The actual two-month training session of the WCD Internship will consist of participation in Government Programmes such as “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”, Anganwadi, Poshan Abhiyaan etc. The programme also includes surveys for projects under construction in the participant’s home district as per the guidelines set out within the WCD Programme.

Who may apply?

Anyone between the ages of 21 and 40 may apply for this opportunity.
Women only. They must be residents of rural areas or small towns.
Anyone living in large metropolitan areas such as the following Cities is not eligible:
Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and other large metropolitan areas.

Benefits offered?

₹20,000.00 monthly stipend; deposited to the applicants bank account.
Travel expenses to and from the venue of internship will be paid by the ministry.
All expenses for lodging and meals while in Delhi will be borne entirely by the Government of India.

Application process

The application process for the February – March 2026 Internship has already begun, and applicants must submit applications by December 10, 2023. Please use the official application form located at:.wcd.intern.nic.in

The entire application process is conducted online.

There will be no ability to re-apply.

Anyone who applies for the February – March 2026 Internship will not be eligible to re-apply. Each year, a limited number of new applicants will be able to apply for the internship.
