Why did the government implement the eKYC rule?

The e-KYC rule was introduced to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach the right beneficiaries. The government had found that in some cases, the wrong people had become beneficiaries. Therefore, e-KYC of the husband or father through the PAN card was made mandatory for verification. This would have allowed for an accurate assessment of their income. However, after widespread opposition, the government has currently suspended this process.
