Project Ganga: 2 Million Families to Get High-Speed Internet Access, Know How

Under Project Ganga, a vast network of Digital Service Providers (DSPs) will be established in Uttar Pradesh.

: Good news for everyone. To provide high-speed to villages in Uttar Pradesh, connect individuals with digital services, and generate new job opportunities for the youth, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has introduced “Project Ganga.” This initiative aims to ensure last-mile digital connectivity in rural regions while also enhancing digital education, telemedicine, e-governance, skill development, and technology-driven employment opportunities.

20 lakh families will receive high-speed internet

Under Project Ganga, a vast network of Digital Service Providers (DSPs) will be established in Uttar Pradesh. The objective is to deliver high-speed internet access to around 2 million households. Furthermore, 8,000 to 10,000 digital service providers will be developed, resulting in over 100,000 direct and indirect job opportunities. The initial phase of this initiative is set to launch in 21 districts.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi remarked that broadband connectivity has become an essential requirement in today’s world. The quicker the internet speed, the faster the development progresses. He emphasized that Project Ganga is a significant step towards fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Digital India.”

CM Yogi stated that just as the flow of Mother Ganga from Gangotri to Gangasagar has been the cornerstone of development, prosperity, and life for the regions along its route, Project Ganga will also serve as a robust foundation for the digital prosperity of Uttar Pradesh. This initiative will open up new avenues for social and economic transformation by introducing digital opportunities to rural areas.

Will start from 21 districts

The Chief Minister stated that this project, which is being launched in 21 districts in the first phase, will eventually be expanded to all 57,000 gram panchayats and approximately 8,000 judicial panchayats in the state. This will realize the vision of last-mile digital connectivity, and villages will develop into smart villages.

He said that to promote digital empowerment in the state, the goal was to create 8,000 digital entrepreneurs. Project Ganga will play a vital role in achieving this goal. The government’s effort is not only to provide internet connectivity, but also to empower youth to become self-reliant. This project will connect youth to the digital economy and provide new opportunities for self-employment and entrepreneurship.

Youth will be developed as

Presenting the outline of Project Ganga, State Transformation Commission Chairman Manoj Kumar Singh explained that it is not just a project to expand internet connectivity, but a new model of digital entrepreneurship in rural Uttar Pradesh. Under this, local youth will be developed as Digital Service Providers (DSPs) who will establish fiber broadband networks in their areas and provide digital services.
