Train Cancelled: There is a major shock to train passengers. If you’re planning to travel by train in the near future, this news is for you. The railway has blocked the Ambala Railway Division’s Shahbad Markanda and Mohri stations to extend loop lines and install a new electronic interlocking (EI) system.
This block will run from May 30 to June 6, 2026, causing inconvenience to passengers traveling on the Delhi-Chandigarh route. A total of 22 trains have been canceled, 29 trains have been diverted, and several trains have been rescheduled due to this work.
What are the main trains that have been affected?
The Vande Bharat and Shatabdi Express services are cancelled on June 6.
On the same day, the New Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi Express (12045/12046) and the Ajmer-Chandigarh Vande Bharat Express (20977/20978) are also cancelled.
Garib Rath Express
The Ajmer-Chandigarh Garib Rath Express (12983) has been cancelled on May 31 and June 2.
The Chandigarh-Ajmer Garib Rath Express (12984) is cancelled on June 1 and June 3.
What trains have been diverted?
As for the diverted trains, the Chandigarh-Yeshwantpur Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express (22686) was redirected via the Ambala-Saharanpur-Meerut-Ghaziabad route on June 2. Additionally, the Chandigarh-Madgaon Goa Sampark Kranti Express (12450) was also rerouted on June 1. The Railways has advised passengers to verify their train status on NTES or call helpline 139 before traveling to prevent any issues.
Meanwhile The railway administration will install girders on the rail bridges by taking traffic cum power block between 4th and 11th June in the Purulia-Gaurinathdham and Chharra-Purulia-Tamna rail sections falling under the Adra Railway Division. Due to this, South Eastern Railway has announced the cancellation of six trains on various dates. Additionally, eight trains will be operated with short terminations and short originations prior to their destinations.
Train No. 18601 Tatanagar-Hatia Express, scheduled to depart Tatanagar on June 4, 8, and 11, will be diverted to Hatia via Chandil, Gundabihar, and Muri. This decision will impact thousands of passengers from Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal. Passengers are advised to check their train status before traveling.
