PM Matru Vandana Yojana: Government Gives Rs 11,000 To Women For Mother And Child Nutrition, Know How To Avail The Benefits

The Government of India is implementing various welfare schemes to economically empower women. The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is an important initiative, providing financial assistance to pregnant and lactating women to ensure their nutrition, health, and safety. Run by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, this scheme aims to reduce the financial burden on women during pregnancy and provide them with proper nutrition. Under the scheme, assistance is transferred directly to the bank accounts of beneficiary women through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Women receive Rs 11,000

Under this scheme, women receive a total assistance of Rs 5,000 upon the birth of their first child, which is released in three installments. Additionally, if the second child is a girl, the beneficiary woman receives Rs 6,000. Thus, women can receive financial assistance of up to ₹11,000 for their first and second child. The government believes that this assistance will not only provide financial support to women but also improve maternal and child health standards.

Who can avail the benefits of this scheme?

The scheme is available only to women who are at least 19 years of age or older. To avail the benefits, a woman must apply within 270 days of the child’s birth. Women holding ration cards, SC/ST women, women with disabilities, and women beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat scheme are also eligible. Millions of women across the country have already benefited from this scheme, strengthening the goal of healthy motherhood.

How to Apply

To avail the benefits of the scheme, women must apply by visiting the official portal pmmvy.wcd.gov.in. After registering on the website, the application process can be completed by uploading the required documents. After registration and document verification, the approved amount is transferred directly to the bank account.
