Indian Railways has taken into account the high passenger demand and the growing waiting list, even after the festive season. Providing significant relief to millions of passengers, the Railways has taken the bold decision to operate two important special trains for travel to Gorakhpur with immediate effect. These trains will address the shortage of seats and facilitate travel.
Railways New Strategy
This extraordinary decision by Indian Railways is aimed at millions of passengers who were unable to find seats for long-distance travel even in the month of December. Using data analytics, the Railway Administration has determined an unprecedented increase in passenger traffic between Gorakhpur and major metropolitan cities across the country.

To handle this massive rush and ensure confirmed seats, these two trains have been specially designed with additional coaches and improved amenities. This move will not only provide comfort to passengers but will also help curb illegal ticket booking and touts, ensuring genuine passengers receive their due.

Will special trains run on two important routes
This special service will connect Gorakhpur to two of the country’s largest and busiest cities—Mumbai and Delhi—providing direct connectivity to travelers in North India.
1. Gorakhpur-Mumbai Special
This train will depart from Gorakhpur for Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, covering major stations in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. It will prove to be a boon for thousands of migrant workers returning to their workplaces or returning home for holidays. The train’s timetable has been designed to ensure passengers reach their destinations at convenient times.
2. Gorakhpur-Delhi Special
This second special train to the capital, Delhi, will travel through several important cities in Uttar Pradesh and reach the National Capital Region (NCR). This will be a very fast and comfortable option for travelers traveling to Delhi, reaching their destinations in a short time and eliminating the fear of waiting lists.

Timetable and Booking
Indian Railways plans to announce the launch dates for these two trains soon, and they are expected to run in the first week of December. Passengers are advised to book tickets for these special trains as soon as bookings open on the IRCTC’s official website or mobile app to secure confirmed seats, as seats may fill up quickly due to high demand. The Railways has also indicated that if demand persists, additional trips of these special trains may be added.
