EPFO PF Transfer: Great news is on the way for the millions of shareholders of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). The EPFO is preparing to offer a significant gift to its members. Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced that with EPFO 3.0, members will soon be able to transfer their PF funds directly to their bank accounts using UPI, making the process hassle-free.
A system similar to auto-settlement has been put in place
In fact, the EPFO has already introduced an auto-settlement system for eligible claims up to Rs 5 lakh. With the launch of the new UPI system, the PF withdrawal process has not only become quicker but is also expected to become even simpler in the future. However, to take full advantage of this digital service, it is crucial to have updated member records. Some experts suggest that this regulatory framework contributes to many delays in PF claims.
Why is it essential for UAN to be active?
Always ensure that your Universal Account Number is activated before proceeding. If your UAN is inactive, you will not be able to access KYC verification, Lens Check, and other new online digital features.
Moreover, the name, date of birth, and other details on your PF account must align with your identity documents and bank account information. Make sure to verify that all your documents are correct.
Link your bank account and mobile number
Keep in mind that the bank account associated with your UPI must be accurately updated on the PF portal. Additionally, your active mobile number should also be linked to your UAN to prevent any issues during OTP verification.
It is important to seed and authenticate your UAN with Aadhaar. The name, date of birth, and gender in the EPFO records must match your Aadhaar details. Any mismatch may result in UPI-based verification and PF processing failure.
The most common practical problem with PF claims is a mismatch between the name, date of birth, or father’s name in the Aadhaar, PAN, employer records, and EPFO records. Therefore, employees should ensure that their Aadhaar is seeded, their PAN is updated, and both are verified on the UAN portal.
Update your bank account carefully
PF withdrawals can be transferred directly through UPI-enabled banking systems, so your bank account number, IFSC code, and account holder name must be correct and verified on the EPFO portal. Failed transfers can also be due to a closed or incorrect bank account.
Keep your mobile number and UPI handle ready
The mobile number linked to your Aadhaar and UAN must be active, as OTP-based authentication can play a significant role in authorizing transactions through the UPI service. The UPI feature relies on digital authentication. Therefore, the Aadhaar-linked mobile number, UAN-registered mobile number, and UPI-linked mobile number should be as consistent as possible.
