Background and necessity of the project
We all know that the problem of workers going to work in other states is long-standing. Especially in non-speaking states like Maharashtra, Kerala or various states of South India, workers from West Bengal are involved in various jobs. However, in recent years, many incidents have come to light where workers from Bengal have been subjected to various oppressions, and many have even lost their lives.
Not only that, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself has mentioned this problem several times and has finally announced the ‘Shramshri Project’ as a practical solution.
