Toyota Kirloskar Motor, a trusted car manufacturer in the Indian automobile market, has officially launched its first all-electric SUV, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, in India. Based on Suzuki’s state-of-the-art EV platform (eVitara architecture), this electric SUV represents a major and revolutionary step by Toyota towards sustainable and green mobility in the Indian market.
The company has initially revealed prices for the top-spec E3 variant, priced at ₹23.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Prices for the lower, more affordable variants—the E1 and E2—will be announced in the near future.
Powerful 61kWh Battery Pack

Under the hood of the newly launched top-end Abella E3 variant, the company has provided a powerful 61kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. This battery pack powers a powerful electric motor mounted at the front under a front-wheel drive (FWD) setup.
This advanced electric motor generates a maximum power of 174 bhp and a peak torque of 193 Nm, providing the car with a nimble and smooth pickup during heavy city traffic and expressway overtaking. Eliminating mileage or range anxiety, Toyota claims that this SUV offers an ARAI-certified driving range of 543 km on a single full charge.
Charging Capacity
This SUV supports both AC and DC fast charging. The car’s battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 45 minutes using any commercial DC fast charger. Furthermore, customers can remotely monitor the car’s charging progress and remaining range on their smartphone or smartwatch using Toyota’s ‘i-Connect’ connected car app.
Urban Tech Design
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Abella doesn’t look like a typical crossover; instead, the company has designed it based on its new ‘Urban Tech’ design philosophy, which is a perfect blend of a traditional rugged SUV and a futuristic modern electric car.
Its front appearance features Toyota’s signature ‘Hammerhead’ front fascia, which comes with a gloss-black closed grille, sleek LED headlights, and vertically stacked LED DRLs. The car’s aerodynamic body lines improve its range by reducing road friction.
The side profile features muscular wheel arches and heavy black cladding on the lower door sections, complemented by striking 18-inch aero-design alloy wheels. The rear features connected LED taillights and a large diffuser. The company will offer the car in five monotone and four elegant dual-tone color options.
Premium Dual-Tone Interior
The Toyota Abella’s cabin is based on a luxurious and premium black-and-tan dual-tone theme, with soft-touch surfaces and sophisticated gadgets.
At the center of its layered dashboard is a dual-screen setup. It features a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster for driver information and a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system for entertainment, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
For summer comfort, it features ventilated front seats, 12-color ambient lighting to change the cabin ambiance, a large panoramic glass roof for breathtaking views of the sky, and a 10-way electrically adjustable driver seat.
For rear passenger comfort, it features segment-first sliding and reclining rear seats, which can be moved forward or backward to create king-like legroom. Furthermore, for music lovers, it features a premium JBL sound system with a subwoofer.
Safety

Toyota has made no compromises on safety standards in this first mass-market electric car. Designed to achieve a 5-star safety rating from the Bharat NCAP, the car utilizes a high-tensile steel body structure. Seven airbags are standard for safety.
Additionally, the car features a full suite of Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), including advanced features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. For easy parking in tight spaces, it also features a 360-degree HD camera, an electronic parking brake (with Auto Hold), and front and rear parking sensors.
Unique Ownership Benefits
To address customer concerns about battery life and resale value regarding electric vehicles, Toyota India has introduced several comprehensive and unique ownership programs. The company is offering a comprehensive 8-year battery warranty.
The company has also introduced a BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) option, allowing customers to purchase the car at a significantly lower price, eliminating the cost of the battery, and then rent the battery on a subscription basis.
