India’s SUV lovers have plenty to look forward to, as four major carmakers gear up for a storm of new launches. Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, and Mahindra will roll out an exciting mix of new models and updates across every segment. From hybrids to electric SUVs, these upcoming cars could set fresh benchmarks. Let’s take a closer look at what’s arriving in the next 12 months.
Maruti Suzuki’s New SUVs
Maruti Suzuki is developing a brand-new five-seater SUV that will be positioned just below the Grand Vitara. Even though it will be positioned below it, the SUV might be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara, providing more room for customers. Customers will be offered 1.5-litre mild hybrid and 1.5-litre powerful hybrid petrol motors.
Alongside this model, Maruti Suzuki is also preparing to launch the e Vitara, a fully electric SUV expected to arrive during the festive season. This addition to Maruti’s electric portfolio should help the brand challenge rivals with modern features and cleaner technology.
Hyundai’s Next-Gen Venue
The next-generation Hyundai Venue has already been seen during test runs, flaunting a more aggressive new look. Expectations are for improvements both in the design on the outside and inside cabin, with Hyundai lining up a new list of features. But the current engine lineup is set to be retained without modification.
These updates are set to enable the Venue to continue to perform well in the compact SUV segment, remaining competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
Tata’s Big Comeback
Tata Motors has queued up a line of SUVs with strong new petrol motors and electric technology. Its 1.5-litre turbo petrol motor churning out 168 PS and 280 Nm will find its place in the Harrier and Safari shortly. Consumers will have the option of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Tata is also going to bring back the Sierra nameplate. It will launch the Sierra as an EV initially, and then as an internal combustion model with the 1.5-litre turbo petrol or the current 2.0-litre diesel. These launches are going to happen in this financial year.
Mahindra’s Upcoming Lineup
Mahindra isn’t planning to take its foot off the gas either. The company is readying a facelift of the XUV700 that may hit the market as early as 2026. There will be minor exterior and interior design changes along with some additional features. Mahindra is also developing the electric variant of the XUV 3XO and XEV 7e based on the XUV700.
Another thrilling new development will be the three-door Thar, which is being mid-lifed with new styling reflecting the Roxx. Additionally, Mahindra will introduce a new-generation Bolero to enthusiasts of its rugged SUV.
EV Push and New Technology
All four manufacturers are adding electric models or hybrid powertrains to meet growing interest in greener mobility. Maruti Suzuki’s e Vitara, Tata’s Sierra EV, Mahindra’s XUV 3XO EV, and Hyundai’s modern updates reflect the trend of making SUVs smarter, cleaner, and more efficient.
