The wait for the Tata Sierra is about to end, and this time the SUV is set to make waves in its new avatar. The production-ready model has been spotted testing several times, giving glimpses of its design and interiors. It was recently spotted at a fuel station, indicating that Tata Motors has begun testing ICE (petrol and diesel) versions.

Engine and Powertrain
Fresh spy images showed that Sierra will also have a petrol engine option. The Tata Sierra will be offered with two new petrol engines – 1.5-liter naturely-aspirated and 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged.
The Turbocharged engine will generate 280Nm of torque between 170hp and 2,000–3,500rpm at 5,000rpm. NA petrol engines will be found in lower-spec variants. Both engines will be E20 fuel compliant.

The diesel version will use a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbo unit, which is also found in Harrier and Safari. This engine gives 170hp and 350Nm torque. Tata Motors has obtained a license to build this engine from Fiat. The tuning of the engine in Sierra may be slightly different. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be available.
Competition and Price
The new Tata Sierra will be offered as a lifestyle SUV and will have a length of about 4.3 meters. It will compete with mid-size SUVs such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Victoria. The EV version will compete with Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and MG ZS EV.
Petrol and diesel versions are expected to cost between about ₹12 lakhs to ₹20 lakhs. At the same time, the price of EV version can range from ₹18 lakh to ₹24 lakh. This range makes it an attractive option for mid-segment SUV buyers.
Tata Sierra EV
Sierra EV will be based on the Acti.ev+ architecture used in Curvv EV. It can carry 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs from Harrier EV. The Harrier EV comes with rear-wheel drive and the top spec has an AWD option. The Sierra EV will be a front-wheel drive SUV, with a front axle mounted electric motor.

It is also likely to have dual-motor AWD setup (QWD – Quad Wheel Drive). Sierra EV will have many terrain modes, such as Mud Ruts, Sand, Snow, Rock Crawl etc.
Features
The new Sierra will feature features such as triple screen dashboard, LEVEL 2 ADAS, front parking sensor, 360-degree camera, auto-dimming IRVM, HUD (Heads-Up Display), multi-color ambient lighting and panoramic sunroof.

In addition to the JBL sound system, Dolby Atmos, ventilated and powered front seats, 6 airbags, ESP, TPMS, hill launch and descent control, traction control system and dual-zone climate control will also be available. These SUVs offer the best balance of comfort and safety.
Launch
Tata Motors will first launch the Sierra EV, which could hit the market in October-November 2025. The ICE version will launch in the first quarter of 2026, possibly in January.
