Maruti Suzuki is now entering the electric segment in the Indian automobile industry. The company has confirmed that its first electric car, the Maruti e-Vitara, will be launched in December 2025. It was first showcased at the India Mobility Global Expo. Production of this SUV has now begun at the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. Significantly, the e-Vitara is built on a purpose-built electric platform, meaning it is based on a completely new EV architecture, not an electric version of a petrol model.

Strong Design and Practical Dimensions
The Maruti e-Vitara’s design blends traditional SUV styling and futuristic elements. Its length is 4275 mm, its width is 1800 mm, and its wheelbase is 2700 mm, making it a balanced and practical SUV. Its appearance maintains Maruti’s signature strength while adding a modern touch. The company plans to export it not only to India but also to over 100 countries, positioning it as a global electric model.
Two Battery Packs and a Range of Up to 500 Km
The Maruti e-Vitara will be launched in two battery pack options: 49kWh and 61kWh. The company claims that its top variant will offer a range of approximately 500 km. It features fast charging technology, which will enable the battery to be charged up to 80 percent in a short time. The car is designed to deliver excellent performance from everyday city use to highway driving.
Features Packed with Advanced Technology
The e-Vitara will be Maruti’s most feature-loaded SUV yet. It will feature features like 7 airbags, an ADAS Level-2 driver assist system, automatic braking, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. It will also feature ventilated front seats, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a large touchscreen infotainment system. Additionally, connected car technology and voice command support make it even more advanced.

Pricing and Competition
The Maruti e-Vitara will be the company’s most premium electric product to date. It will be positioned above the Grand Vitara and Victorias. While pricing is yet to be revealed, it is expected to start between ₹2.5 million and ₹3.0 million (ex-showroom). In the Indian market, it will compete directly with the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra XUV400 Pro, and MG ZS EV.
