KTM 160 Duke: KTM has launched the new 160 Duke, a bike that will appeal to those seeking an inexpensive yet thrilling streetfighter. With edgy styling, upgraded performance, and practical everyday usage, the model combines fun with sensibility. The smallest Duke available for purchase, it boasts the same aggressive DNA that the brand is famous for. Targeted at first-time buyers, it strikes a balance between efficiency, power, and urban-friendly handling.
KTM 160 Duke Design
The edgy design language of the 160 Duke is shared by larger siblings of the Duke family. The naked streetfighter posture is aggressive, marked by sharp body contours and a muscular fuel tank. A new LED headlamp with hazard lights added by KTM also lends it a premium touch. Switchgear borrowed from the 390 Duke further contributes to the perception of a higher segment motorcycle. In spite of being an entry-level model, it is every inch a genuine KTM.
Engine and Performance
Power derives from a 160 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that churns out 19 PS at 9,500 rpm and 15.5 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The engine is rev-happy but also nice to use daily. KTM calibrated the engine with less heavy internals so that it’s responsive in traffic conditions and stable at speeds. Accelerating 0 to 60 kmph in a mere 4.5 seconds, it handles both urban jaunts and highway cruising confidently. Roll-on acceleration is also a winner over competitors, exhibiting solid mid-range thrust.
Braking and Safety
Braking capability is robust with a large 320 mm front brake disc, dual-channel ABS, and braided lines. Rear ABS can be turned off for a more sporting experience. Although less keen than larger Dukes, the brakes are effective and safe. All these, combined with high-end build quality, instill rider confidence across various conditions.
KTM 160 Duke Mileage with Price
Fuel efficiency is also a highlight since KTM boasts about 10 per cent improved economy over previous iterations. Under normal usage conditions, the bike can reach more than 40 kmpl with gentle riding. Priced at Rs. 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom), it is positioned as a budget streetfighter with premium specifications. On balance of design, performance, and efficiency, it is an impressive package for fresh riders.
