JSW Jetour T2 PHEV Spied In Pune – Luxury Hybrid SUV With 1200 KM Range Coming Before Diwali
The country’s leading industrial house, the JSW Group, is now ready to launch its first independent vehicle in the Indian passenger vehicle market under the banner of JSW Motors.
The company has officially announced the launch of its first powerful vehicle just before the upcoming Diwali 2026 festive season. In partnership with China’s leading automaker, Chery, JSW is launching its first powerful SUV, the Jetour T2 PHEV, in India.

Powerful Exterior

In terms of appearance and design, this new SUV from JSW Motors is a far cry from today’s ordinary-looking urban vehicles. Its entire structure appears to be inspired by the world’s most expensive off-roaders, such as the Land Rover Defender, which people are even calling the “Mini Defender.”
Its front end features square LED headlights, a large grille, and a rugged bumper. The side profile is strengthened by square wheel arches, a completely flat roofline, and large glass windows. At the rear, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel (stepney box) is typical of true off-roaders, giving it a unique and imposing road presence.

‘i-DM’ Plug-in Hybrid Technology

Customers often have two major fears before purchasing large SUVs: low fuel economy and, like electric vehicles, range anxiety. JSW Motors aims to eliminate both of these concerns with its cutting-edge plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology.
This vehicle features the company’s patented “i-DM” (Intelligent Drive Model) system. This system combines a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and two powerful electric motors, powered by a 26.7 kWh battery pack.

Powertrain

This powertrain collectively generates a blistering 381 hp and a massive 610 Nm of peak torque. The company claims that with a full tank of petrol and a fully charged battery, this SUV can deliver an incredible combined range of 1,200 km.
For daily office commutes or city trips, the car offers a pure electric range of 139 km (EV-only mode). This means your car will run like a completely silent EV within the city, without consuming a drop of petrol.
To manage power, it’s paired with a highly advanced 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) gearbox instead of a traditional CVT, making the power distribution between the engine and motors highly efficient.

Super-Premium Cabin

Step inside the cabin and you’ll feel like you’re in a futuristic ultra-luxury car. The 5-seater cabin is extremely luxurious and packed with gadgets. The highlight of its center dashboard is the massive 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is unheard of in any car in this budget.
To ensure smooth, lag-free operation of this screen and all the car’s smart features, the cabin is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 flagship processor, typically found in the world’s most expensive cars.
Additionally, luxury features include a 10.2-inch digital instrument console for the driver, a 12-speaker Sony premium audio system for music lovers, a large panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and multi-color ambient lighting.

Safety

This car is also impeccable on the safety front. It received a full 5-star safety rating in the recent ASEAN NCAP crash test. The car features advanced Level-2 ADAS technology, including features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, a 360-degree camera, hill-start assist, and hill-descent control, which completely eliminate the possibility of accidents.

Estimated Price

JSW Motors plans to manufacture this plug-in hybrid SUV entirely in India. It will be locally assembled (CKD route) at the company’s new greenfield manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra.
Due to heavy localization, the company is expected to keep its starting price aggressively, ranging between ₹25 lakh and ₹30 lakh, ex-showroom, although some high-end hybrid variants could even go up to ₹35 lakh.
