Actually, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants have shown interest in buying this star fast bowler of Sunrisers Hyderabad. According to the reports of ‘Cricbuzz’, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants are looking for an experienced fast bowler. The Indian fast bowler seems to fit in their plans. Both the franchise teams have shown interest in including experienced Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami in their team for the next season of IPL.
Mohammed Shami set to join new IPL team?
This news comes after reports that Sunrisers Hyderabad is considering releasing 35-year-old fast bowler Mohammed Shami for the next season due to age and fitness concerns. It’s worth noting that Sunrisers Hyderabad acquired Mohammed Shami for ₹10 crore in the IPL 2025 auction.
However, his performance last season wasn’t as expected. He played nine matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025, taking six wickets at an economy rate of 11.23. Overall, he has taken 133 wickets in 119 IPL matches at an economy rate of 8.63. His best IPL performances came while playing for Gujarat Titans, where he took 20 wickets in 2022 and 28 wickets in 2028.
Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants have shown interest in adding Mohammed Shami to their respective teams for the next IPL season. Delhi Capitals are likely to include Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Mohammed Shami in the team in place of T Natarajan, who was bought by them for Rs 10.75 crore last season. T Natarajan was injured throughout the last season and could play only one match for Delhi Capitals. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants can also trade the speed star of Sunrisers Hyderabad in exchange of Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi to include Mohammed Shami in their team.
