The Vidarbha team won the Vijay Hazare Trophy at a time when the BCCI increased the prize money for all domestic tournaments. The BCCI did so two years ago, in April 2023. At that time, the then BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, announced the significant increase in domestic tournament prize money. The Vijay Hazare Trophy prize money increase was also mentioned in the same statement.

Jay Shah, through his X handle, then shared the new prize money for all domestic tournaments, some of which had doubled, others tripled, or even increased more. Following the new revision, the Vijay Hazare Trophy’s prize money has seen a more than threefold increase.

In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the winning team previously received a prize money of ₹30 lakh. Following the April 2023 amendment, the BCCI has increased that prize money to ₹1 crore. The runner-up, which previously received ₹15 lakh, has also been increased to ₹50 lakh from April 2023 onwards.

This means that Vidarbha, the champions of the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy, also received a prize money of ₹1 crore. Saurashtra, which lost to them in the final, received a runner-up prize money of ₹50 lakh.
