Massive update ahead of IPL 2026 season
The current IPL champion team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is preparing to play its home matches outside Bengaluru in the next season. It is believed that this big decision has been taken after a tragic accident that happened after winning the title in 2025. RCB has played all its home matches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium since 2008.
But after winning the IPL 2025 trophy, a huge crowd gathered outside the stadium, which led to a stampede. Many people lost their lives and many were injured in this incident. After this, questions were raised on both the franchise and the administration regarding the security arrangements and the organization. According to media reports, RCB has decided to hold its home matches in two different cities for IPL 2026, with five matches being considered at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and two matches at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
The DY Patil Stadium has previously hosted several IPL and international matches. Its facilities and traffic management make it a safe choice. Meanwhile, the Raipur stadium has also successfully hosted major matches in recent years, strengthening its bid. Reports previously suggested Indore’s name had also been considered, but the latest information suggests Raipur has now emerged as the frontrunner.
