Parvez Rasool retired

It’s worth noting that this cricketer, who played his last international match under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, has suddenly created a sensation in world cricket with his decision. Eleven years ago, on June 15, 2014, this cricketer made his ODI debut for India under Suresh Raina’s captaincy. Parvez Rasool took 352 wickets and scored 5648 runs in his 17-year first-class career. He was a reliable player for Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy and was renowned for his all-round abilities. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Lala Amarnath Trophy twice, in 2013/14 and 2017/18.

Although Rasool had a stellar first-class career, his international career spanned just two matches. He made his T20I debut against Bangladesh in Mirpur on June 15, 2014, and his ODI debut came almost two and a half years later against England in Kanpur. After a stellar performance for Jammu and Kashmir in 2012-13, Rasool earned a chance in the IPL. That season, he scored 594 runs and took 33 wickets. He was then signed to the Pune Warriors franchise. However, the last few seasons have been challenging for him, and he has been out of the Ranji Trophy team.

Rasool, on the occasion of his retirement, said that when he started playing cricket, Jammu and Kashmir cricket was not taken seriously. He said, “We defeated big teams even in difficult conditions and performed well in BCCI tournaments. It is a matter of pride that I was a part of this success story.”

Parvez Rasool’s career wasn’t limited to statistics; he brought Jammu and Kashmir cricket recognition at the national and international level. His dedication, hard work, and passion proved that success is possible even in difficult circumstances. Now, Rasool’s experience and knowledge will serve as a source of guidance for budding cricketers.
