Bullet Train Stoppages – India’s first bullet train project will connect Mumbai to Ahmedabad, marking a new chapter in the history of rail transport in the country. This high-speed rail corridor is targeted to be operational by August 2027. This project is an excellent example of technological and economic cooperation between India and Japan, which will not only reduce travel time but also accelerate regional development and industrial progress.

Bullet Train Project Highlights

The total length of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed ​​Rail (MAHSR) corridor will be 508 km, passing through Maharashtra, Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

The first phase will start in August 2027 from Surat to Bilimora.

The second phase will be completed till Thane in 2028 and the last phase till Mumbai in 2029.

This route will have a total of 12 stations, 8 in Gujarat and 4 in Maharashtra.

The maximum speed will be 320 km/h and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad journey will be completed in just under 3 hours.

The project is being carried forward rapidly in Gujarat, with 2,764 km of new railway lines laid in the last 11 years. The bullet train will provide a major boost to industrial investment, employment, and the logistics sector in the state. North Gujarat is being developed as a technology and manufacturing hub, particularly with investments from Japanese electronics and chemical companies.

Construction of 323 km of viaducts and 399 km of piers completed. 211 km track bed has been completed and more than 4 lakh noise barriers have been installed. Work is progressing rapidly in mountain tunnels and a 21 km undersea tunnel. Rolling stock depots are being constructed in Surat and Ahmedabad. The entire project is focusing on modern technology, safety standards, and environmental protection.
