Vande Bharat Sleeper Fare: Today, January 17th, marks the launch of the country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate it at Malda Town Railway Station. Previously, Vande Bharat trains were only available for seated travel, but now a sleeper version has been introduced for those traveling long distances. What makes this train special?
The Vande Bharat Sleeper train consists of 16 coaches, providing a total of 823 berths. There are 611 berths in 3AC, 188 in 2AC, and 24 in 1AC. The interior design reflects Indian culture. Safety features include the Kavach automatic train protection system, emergency talk-back units, and disinfectant technology.
The driver’s cabin is outfitted with advanced control and safety systems. The train’s exterior is aerodynamic, enabling it to slice through the air and travel swiftly. The coach doors are automatic, and the vestibules allow for easy access. It can reach a top speed of 180 km/h, with a regular speed of 130 km/h.
What will the fares be?
The Vande Bharat Sleeper train runs from Guwahati to Howrah, and its fares are indicative of the premium amenities offered. The minimum fare for 3AC is Rs 2.4 per km, totaling Rs 2,400 for the full journey. The 2AC fare is Rs 3.1 per km, or Rs 3,100 overall. For 1AC, the fare is Rs 3.8 per km, amounting to Rs 3,800.
