Vande Bharat 4.0: Indian Railways is planning to launch Vande Bharat 4.0 and Amrut Bharat 4.0. India will roll out the next-generation Vande Bharat trains within the next 18 months. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav recently announced that the new version will not only improve speed and comfort but also achieve global standards. These are next-generation train systems designed to meet global standards. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav highlighted the advancements in railways during the inauguration of the 16th International Railway Equipment Exhibition 2025.
Vande Bharat 4.0 is being seen as a benchmark for world-class technology and passenger comfort. The upgraded trains will focus on improved restrooms, seating, and coachwork. According to the minister, the 4.0 version could be rolled out within the next 18 months.
India is currently operating the Vande Bharat 3.0, which is already at par with international standards in terms of speed and performance. Vaishnav stated, “It accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 52 seconds, while the best other trains from Japan and Europe do so in 54 seconds.”
Speeds up to 350 kmph
The Railway Minister informed that Indian Railways is working on a plan to develop 7,000 kilometres of corridors by 2047. Trains on these corridors will be able to run at speeds up to 350 kmph.
Current Vande Bharat 3.0 Speed
Vande Bharat 3.0 trains are currently operating in India, which can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 52 seconds. The Vande Bharat 4.0 edition will see improvements not only in speed but also in comfort, safety, and design. Currently, 156 Vande Bharat services, 30 Amrit Bharat services, and 4 Namo Bharat services are operating in the country.
