The BCCI has announced the replacement for Indian team’s star all-rounder Washington Sundar. Sundar, who was injured in the first ODI, has been ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series. 26-year-old Ayush Badoni from Delhi has been named Sundar’s replacement. This is Ayush’s first call-up to Team India.

Badoni is a right-handed explosive batsman from Delhi who combines his explosive batting with his spin bowling . Ayush is a product of Delhi’s renowned Sonnet Cricket Club , which has produced players like Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant.
Rahul Dravid recognized his talent during his Under-19 days, when he performed brilliantly at number 7 against Sri Lanka Under-19, scoring 185 runs in an innings and taking four wickets . Despite his impressive performances in the Under-19s, he had to wait a long time to break into the Delhi senior team. He also went unsold in the IPL auction for two consecutive years , but 2022 proved to be a turning point for him.

In 2022, the Lucknow Super Giants ( LSG) signed him to the team on Gautam Gambhir’s trust, and in his very first match, he surprised everyone by scoring 54 runs in 41 balls when the team was in trouble at 29 for 4.
He has played 21 first- class matches, scoring 1,681 runs and taking 22 wickets . He also holds the record for scoring 693 runs and taking 18 wickets in 27 List A matches . In T20 cricket, he has played 96 matches, scoring 1,788 runs and taking 17 wickets .
