On the third day of the Delhi Test, Washington Sundar displayed his bowling prowess, brilliantly bowling out West Indies’ Alec Athanase. This delivery, which uprooted the off-stump, surprised both Athanase and the spectators. This was Sundar’s first success of the match. Washington Sundar displayed his bowling prowess on the third day of the second Test between India and the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Sundar bowled West Indies’ most reliable batsman, Alec Athanase, with a classic off-spin delivery. In the 15th over, Sundar bowled around the wicket and brought the ball in with an angle. Athanase tried to defend, but the ball pitched slightly outside off his bat and went straight to his off stump. Athanase’s face said it all; he was shocked, as he hadn’t made a major mistake, yet he still lost his wicket.
This was Sundar’s first wicket of the match. In the first innings, he had conceded 41 runs in 13 overs but failed to take any wickets.
Talking about the match, at the end of the third day, West Indies had scored 173 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the second innings. The team still trails India by 97 runs. Following on, West Indies’ John Campbell (87*) and Shai Hope (66*) remained at the crease and added 138 runs for the third wicket.
