Modern day cricket is also about some great quality fielding. In today’s Vijay Hazare Trophy match, while bowlers are struggling to get rid of in-form Prabhsimran Singh, it was a fielder who threw his body to take a stunning catch and dismissed the batter.
Prabhsimran Singh walked back for a brilliant catch
Punjab captain Prabhsimran Singh played a brilliant inning of 88 runs hitting 10 fours and 2 sixes in 86 balls in the quarter final match of Vijay Hazare Trophy against Madhya Pradesh at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence on Tuesday, 13 January . It is noteworthy that at one point seeing him batting on the field it seemed that he would score a big century, but all-rounder of the opposition team Saransh Jain did not let this happen and took a very brilliant catch and sent him to the pavilion.
This incident occurred in the 30th over of Punjab’s innings. Madhya Pradesh’s fast bowler Kuldeep Sen came on to bowl this over. Prabhsimran Singh attacked the second ball and erred in his attempt to hit a four. The Punjab captain hit the ball well outside the off side in the air towards cover, but Saransh Jain caught it, ending Prabhsimran’s innings. You can watch the video below.
25-year-old Prabhsimran Singh was heartbroken after playing a good innings and then losing his wicket by playing a poor shot. BCCI Domestic shared a video of the entire incident on its official account, showing him completely devastated and dejected after his dismissal.
Madhya Pradesh captain Venkatesh Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, after which Punjab scored 345 runs for the loss of just 6 wickets in 50 overs, thanks to half-centuries from four of their players.
